In comparison to 745 nm excitation, 488 nm excitation gives a lower level of fluorescence from the normal and diseased tissues. At 488 nm, the ratio of the fluorescence from diseased tissues to the background is approximately 0.5 to 1:1. However, at 745 nm, the fluorescence from diseased tissue is reduced to about 3 to 5:1.
